Diagnosing Our Future is a comic about two girls—Sophia and Lin-Lin—who grow up on opposite sides of the world.  As they grow up in a world increasing molded by climate change, we get a glimpse of what sort of challenges they face. From re-emerging infectious diseases to  severe natural disasters, it is clear that no one is exempt from the consequences of climate change and that sadly, certain populations will be hit harder than others. Sophia and Lin-Lin don’t have a choice as to where they grow up—instead they and their families must do what they can to survive.

“Diagnosing Our Future” is not just a comic about climate change—it’s a call to action. As healthcare providers, it may be easy for us to view climate change as an issue that is removed from our daily responsibilities. However, no one is immune to climate change, and not only will our lives be impacted, but our patients already are, and will continue to be, the victims of climate change.

I was inspired to make this comic after taking a summer course that talked extensively about climate change at Oxford. I knew I wasn't planning on changing my career from pre-med to environmental science or policy, but wasn't there something I could do? This comic was my answer.
